FIRST REPLACEMENT OF TELEMETRIC COLLAR ON LYNX

The collars we wear have been created in such a way that they do not significantly affect the daily functions of the lynx. The transmitter is mounted on a leather strap and the total weight of the device is 280 g. The GPRS / GPS transmitter works for about a year, and the VHF radio transmitter works for up to 4.5-5 years. After this time, the collar strap is self-destructing and the lynx loses the collar.

Recently, we managed to change the collars of three of our lynx: Nagan, Cleo, and Nelly. Our collars for lynx work much less than our collars for bison, even the exchange process itself is more complicated. The lynx is an excellent hunter, can effortlessly camouflage itself into its surroundings. Therefore, finding them its not the easiest task, despite the signal from the VHF radio transmitter. We managed to replace the collar for Nagan and Cleo efficiently and quickly, although Nelly's replacement came unexpectedly. For some time it has not sent a signal from the GPS transmitter, so finding it was almost impossible.

Special thanks to Mr. Konrad Margowski from Lomnica, who sent us a photo of Nelly along with her whereabouts. Because of his help, we were able to find her and replace her collar.
