The Return of lynx to North Western Poland

On 30/03/2017, The Western Pomeranian Nature Society signed the contract no. POIS.02.04.00-00-0143 / 16-00 for financing the enterprise named “The Return of Lynx to North-Western Poland.” The main objective of the project is to restore the lynx population and provide appropriate conditions for its development in Western Pomerania. ZTP will carry out the project in cooperation with the authorized entities: Mammal Research Institute in Białowieża and the Cultural Center in Mirosławiec. The planned total cost of the Project is PLN 3,532,151.00. Amount of subsidies from EU funds - PLN 3,002,328.00. The planned effect to achieve during the Project implementation is:

  • introduction of at least 20 individuals of lynx to the natural environment and the establishment of a lynx breeding base for the needs of lynx introductions (also in other regions of Poland and Europe).
  • creation of a reproducing sub-population of lynx in North-Western Poland.
  • building social acceptance for the persistent presence of lynx in North-Western Poland.
  • creating an institutional base for the protection of lynx (large predators) in Jabłonowo based on the infrastructure of Dzika Zagroda.
